Elnathan Marsh, one of our oldest and most respected citizen died October 22, 1908 at his farm home. Mr. Marsh was born in Geneseo, NY, December 25, 1820, and had spent nearly all of his life in Livingston and Wyoming counties.
In 1842, he was married to Cynthia Graves of Gainesville. In 1865 they moved to the farm south of Silver Springs which has been his home ever since. Here with great pride, he watched the little village grow to a thriving manufacturing town. Mr. Marsh had four daughters, Mrs. S. M. Harden, Mrs. John W. Briggs, Mrs. A. E. Bush and Mrs. Oscar G. Quick all of this place and it was a kind dispensation of Providence that allowed them all to be with him and administer to his wants through the last hours of his life. The funeral was held at his late home with Rev. C. E. Millspaugh officiating. He was laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery beside his wife, who preceded him by six years to a better world.
