ADDITIONAL INFO: Find A Grave contributor Judith Lewis sent these corrections/additions - Levi Lewis was born in July of 1820 in Centerville, Indiana. He married Emeline Simpson in 1834 and they had 3 children, Juranda Julia (1844-1925), Obadiah Benton (1846-1921)#33035829 and Rebecca J (1849-1921). His occupation was as a laborer.

After Emeline's death, Levi married Margaret Knoy #55226451 in May of 1855 in Indiana and they had one son, Jacob Isiah #8418762 born in Indiana in August 1856.

The circumstances surrounding Levi's death in eastern Illinois are not known at this time. He may have been visiting his sister Vashti Drury #60788833, or attending his brother William's #66303406 wedding in October 1856 or looking for work.

The headstone engraving of 1847 is incorrect. The headstone was engraved after Vashti's death in 1909 and over 50 years after Levi's death. Considering that he was only briefly in Illinois before his death, the engraving error is understandable. He is not listed in the 1860 census so his death may have been in 1857 or before 1860.

His 4 children lived in Indiana until Margaret's death and then moved together to Nebraska.

Thanks Judith!
