Elizabeth Greter (surname became Crater) was the eldest of nine known children of Jacob Greter (1764-1834) and Maria Frey (1765-1837), who married 21 Feb 1786 at Friedberg, Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina. Grave marker is hard to read, some source say Elizabeth died 01 Jan 1870, others 01 Jan 1871.


Elizabeth married Johann Philip (went by Philip) Rominger (1784-1860) on 16 Dec 1807 at Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina. Elizabeth and Philip were the parents of five known children, namely:


1. Samuel C. Rominger (1808-1882)

2. Levi Jacob Rominger (1811-1893)

3. Caroline Rebecca Rominger Rominger (1816-1863)

4. Elizabeth Lydia Rominger Fishel (1823-1894)

5. Granville Theodore Rominger (1825-1881)


The family moved from North Carolina to Bartholomew County, Indiana in 1831. It is thought that all of the children were born at present day Forsyth County, North Carolina. In 1850 the parents were living alone at Haw Creek Township, Bartholomew County, Indiana. In 1860 the parents were living alone at Hope, Haw Creek Township, Bartholomew County, Indiana with Philip listed as a retired farmer.
