She was born Feb. 21, 1925, in Washington Township, LaPorte County, the daughter of Cleveland and Grace (Schuh) Coil.
Mary was retired from American Rubber. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wanatah, IN, and liked spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
On Dec. 7, 1949, in Rensselaer, IN, she married Mervin "Buster" Metts, who preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, four brothers and eight sisters.
Surviving are her children, Regina (Harold) Wilson of Kingsford Heights, IN, Daniel Metts of Hanna, Virginia (Jeffrey) Childs of Columbia City, IN, and Delores (Ronald) Everly of Michigan City, IN; seven grandchildren, Andrew (Karen) Metts, Eric (Shasta) Childs, Matthew (Jessica) Childs, Phillip Childs, Amanda Everly, Allison Everly, and Ashton Everly; five great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Marlene Coil of LaPorte.
Friends and family will be received at Cutler Funeral Home, LaPorte, on Sunday, Oct. 31, from 1 to 5 p.m. A rosary will be held during the visitation. A Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Wanatah, on Monday, Nov. 1, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jerry Schweitzer officiating. Interment will follow in Hanna Cemetery.
