Swansea - Charles L. Arant, 78, of Swansea, died Wednesday, December 26, 2007. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 29, in the Sharon Crossroads United Methodist Church, near Gaston, with the Rev. George Gain officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The casket will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Pallbearers will be Shane Fanning, Russell Chavis, Marshall Stabler, Ryan McCarthy, Robert Rice, Douglas McCarthy, Trace Jeffcoat and Antjuan Seawright. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Accurate Manufacturing. Mr. Arant was born in Swansea, a son of the late Samson Melvin and Lessie Rikard Arant Sr. He was a retired supervisor for Accurate Manufacturing. He was a member of Sharon Crossroads United Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Rita (Donnie) Fanning of Orangeburg and Rhonda Riley of St. Matthews; a son, Randy (Linda Raye) Arant of Gilbert; a sister, Merlene (Billy Joe) Wolfe of Sandy Run; three brothers, Sam (Jeanette) Arant Jr. of West Columbia, Donald (Myra) Arant and Gerald (Janice) Arant, all of Lexington; six grandchildren, Rene Buckwell, Shane Fanning, Lynn Craig, Troy, Eric and Krista Caulder; seven great-grandchildren, Riley Buckwell, Alyssa, Helen and James Craig, Laken, Dallas and Kiana Caulder. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home of North and other times at the home, 433 Whetstone Road, Swansea.
