She was married to Fredric William Sempf in 1871. She was the mother of twelve children, six dying in infancy. The six living are Mrs. Martha Stribling and Mrs. Ella Brackney of Gibbs, Mo. Mrs. Ida Jackson of Quincy Ill. Mrs. Amelia Reese and Mrs. Amanda Derry of Kirksville, Mo. and William Sempf of Gibbs, Mo. She was a member of the Luthern [sic] Church until twelve years ago when she became a member of the United Brethren Church, at Prarie [sic] Bird Chapel, under the pastorship of Rev. A.D. Thomas.

As a Christian mother she was kind and affectionate in the home, and was held in esteem by those who knew her, and her Christian graces were commendable in the church and to all who would know Christ. As the mother, may the children all press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God as it is in Christ and one day meet as an unbroken family around God's throne.

The stricken family has the sympathy of the entire comunity [sic]. Funeral services were conducted by M.E. Garlock at Prarie [sic] Bird Nov. 21, after which the remains were interred in the Union cemetery near Gibbs.
