OBITUARY OF FREDRIC SEMPF

Fredric William Sempf was born in Germany the 27th of February, 1840, departed this life at his home near Gibbs, Mo., the 11th day of November, 1915, aged 75 years, 8 months and 11 days. He was married twice, four children being born to his first marriage.

He was married in 1871 to Minnie Black, who survives him. To this union was born twelve children, six dying in infancy. The six living are Mrs. Martha Stribling and Mrs. Ella Brackney of Gibbs, Mrs. Ida Jackson of Quincy, Ill., Mrs. Amelia Reese and Mrs. Amanda Derry of Kirksville and William Sempf of Gibbs.

Mr. Sempf came to America from Germany in 1893. While in Germany he became a member of the Lutheran Church, but joined the United Brethren Church at Prairie Bird Chapel in 1903. In his life was manifested the spirit of divine grace. He was a kind husband and loving father.

May the influence of the Holy Spirit comfort the hearts made sad by his departure. Funeral services were conducted by the writer at Prairie Bird Chapel Nov. 12, after which the remains were interred in the Union cemetery near Gibbs.
