Thenelda and her family moved to Hurricane when she was 3 years old. They lived in a tent for several years, while their house was being built, near the old Hurricane City Park. Thenelda graduated from Hurricane High School class of 1948. She married Gilbert Reeve, November 27, 1948, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple. Gilbert and Thenelda have lived and raised their family in Hurricane.
Thenelda was an active member of the LDS Church. She served as a Cub Scout Leader for many years and in the primary presidency and relief society presidencies.
Thenelda enjoyed quilting, crochet, and needle work. She was a beautiful seamstress and had crocheted over a thousand names. She was a member of a pinochle club for 60 years and also a member of the Buenos Amigos Club. Thenelda was caring and loving and truly loved her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Gilbert Reeve of Hurricane; daughter, Colette (John) Wadsworth of Hurricane; sons, Gilbert "Brad" (Sharlee) Reeve of Panguitch, UT and Gordon Keith (Susan) Reeve of Monticello, UT; 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; brother, R.L. Scow; and sisters, Anna Bowler and Elda Rae (DeLloyd) Hammond. She is preceded in death by her daughters, JoAnn Rowland and Allison Reeve; brothers, Mansel, Glen and Estelvin; and sisters, Myrle and Mary.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday. October 27, 2010 at 12:00 Noon at the Hurricane Stake Center, 677 S. 700 W., Hurricane, UT. Friends may call Tuesday, October 26, 2010, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Spilsbury Hurricane Valley Mortuary 25 N. 2000 W., Hurricane, and also Wednesday, from 10:00-11:30 prior to the services at the Stake Center. Interment will take place in the Hurricane City Cemetery
