DECATUR - Marie Weber, 87, of Decatur, formerly of Strasburg, died 7:38 p.m. Monday (Feb. 26, 2001) in Lincoln Manor.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Wray A. Offerman officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services. Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, is in charge of arrangements.
Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Grace Lutheran Cemetery, Strasburg. Memorials may be given to Lutheran Schools Association or St. Paul's Lutheran Church Music Ministry, both of Decatur.
Miss Weber was born Sept. 3, 1913, in Strasburg, the daughter of Thomas A. and Lenora Falk Weber. She was a graduate of Strasburg High School. She received a bachelor's degree from Eastern Illinois State Teacher's College in 1935 and a master's degree from the University of Illinois in 1942. She began her teaching career at Strasburg High School teaching social studies for seven years and then taught two years at Gibson City before going to Decatur in 1944. She was a social studies teacher and counselor at Stephen Decatur High School until 1957, moving to Eisenhower High School when that building opened as dean of girls until the time of her retirement in 1974. She was an active member of Illinois Retired Teachers Association, Decatur Area Retired Teachers, 50-year member of American Association of University Women and 40-year member of International Honorary Society for Teachers, Delta Kappa Gamma, Beta Sigma Chapter including Macon, Moultrie and Piatt counties. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Decatur, where she was active in church choir, mission society and music ministry. She loved to travel and has made trips to Europe, Germany, Israel and Hawaii.
Surviving are her nephews, Michael T. Weber and wife Dorothy of Strasburg; David L. Weber and wife Peggy of Downs; nieces, Joyce Ulmer of Strasburg and JoAnn Wright of Mattoon; sister-in-law, Velma Weber of Strasburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Max F. Weber and Floyd E. Weber.
