Velma Lucille Williams of Sullivan, MO, wife of the late Milton W. Williams and daughter of the late Walter Dake and Pansy Edna Wilson Pendleton, passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at the age of 88 years.

Mrs. Williams was born on August 2, 1922 in Dixon, MO and was raised and later graduated from school there. On November 15, 1940, she was united in marriage to Milton “Slim” Williams in Dixon, MO and to this marriage five children were born. Mr. Williams preceded Velma in death in September of 2001.

She enjoyed quilting and sewing and, especially, taking care of her many grandchildren. She was a 55-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, Sullivan Chapter 105, where she held many offices, especially that of Worthy Matron. Velma was also a longtime member of Temple Baptist Church of Sullivan.

She is survived by a son, John Williams and wife, Leona, of Sullivan, MO; four daughters, Margaret Murphy and husband, Dan, of Phoenix, AZ, Carolyn Martin and husband, Gary, of Ferndale, WA, Judy Davis and husband, Ray, of Fithian, IL, and Cindy Machelett and husband, Micah, of Sullivan, MO; one brother, Charles Pendelton of Iberia, MO; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Along with her parents, Velma was preceded in death by a brother, Ron Pendelton, and a sister, Jean Williams.
Visitation for Velma Williams was held on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 from 4:30 p.m. until time of services at the Eaton

Funeral Home, Sullivan, MO. Order of the Eastern Star memorial services were conducted at 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening under the auspices of Sullivan Chapter 105.
Funeral services were conducted at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Craig Tanner officiating. Cremation followed the services. Friends may sign the family’s online guest book at www.eatonfuneralhome.com.
