The Screven County native had lived most of his life in Bryan County. He was retired as general manager of Pembroke Motor Company after 38 years of service. He was also a Bryan County commissioner for 12 years and a Pembroke city councilman for 13 years. He was a member of Pembroke Lodge #469 F&AM, serving twice as Worshipful Master, and was a member of Pembroke United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Bessie Bazemore, Pembroke; two daughters, Brenda Brewton and Bonnie Kay Hughes, both of Pembroke; one son, Randall Bazemore, Pembroke; four sisters, Nita Hagan and Neva Bunkley, both of Pembroke, and Mamie Weathers and Irma Gailey, both of Cornelia; two brothers, Hollis Bazemore and Leroy Bazemore, both of Pembroke; and five grandchildren.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Morrison Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Williams and the Rev. C.M. Butler officiating. Burial will be in North Side Cemetery. Masonic graveside services will be held.
