Pembroke - Newman Everett Bazemore, 70, died Monday at St. Joseph's Hospital after a long illness.

He was a native of Screven County and a member of the Beulah Baptist Church. He was also a member of the F&AM Lodge 404, and was a retired Bryan County road supervisor.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Nathalee White Bazemore of Pembroke; four sons, Robert Everett Bazemore of Savannah, William Ervin and Danny Ray Bazemore, both of Ellabell and Lamar Elbert Bazemore of Bloomingdale; four daughters, Mrs. Hazel Lee of Richmond Hill, Mrs. Sandra Cowart and Mrs. Joyce Bland, both of Pembroke and Mrs. Iris Lee of Ellabell; five brothers, Hawley and Hollis Bazemore, both of Pembroke, Jessie Bazemore of Winter Haven, Fla., Leroy Bazemore of Savannah and Warnie Bazemore of Ellabell; four sisters, Mrs. Mamie Weathers and Mrs. Irma Gailey, both of Cornelia, and Mrs. Neta Hagan and Mrs. Neva Bunkley, both of Pembroke; and 16 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Pembroke, with burial in the Northside Cemetery. Morrison Funeral Home of Pembroke is in charge.
