Louise Bakke Passes Thursday in Missouri
Mrs. Louise M. (Kulbeck) Bakke, age 76, passed away Thursday, Feb. 20th, at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
Louise Kulbeck was born Aug. 20, 1892, at New Auburn, Wis. She came to Big Sandy May 6, 1918, and married Martin Bakke Aug. 30, 1919, at Fort Benton. They lived on the homestead 20 miles west of Big Sandy until 1924, when they moved into town. Mr. Bakke served many years in the Big Sandy fire department and as fire chief, and was a carpenter. He passed away April 3, 1968. Mrs. Bakke moved to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, in July 1967.
She was a news correspondent for the River Press, Big Sandy Mountaineer and Havre Daily News for many years. She provided River Press readers with the news from the Big Sandy area for nearly twenty years.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Feb. 27, at the Lutheran Church in Big Sandy at 2 p.m., with burial in Big Sandy cemetery.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Jordan, Fair Oaks, Calif.; three sons, Victor Bakke, Manhattan, Mont., Donald Bakke, Big Sandy, and LaVere Bakke, Fort Leonard Wood; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Sundly, Luck, Wis., and Mrs. Carrie Golden of New Auburn, Wis.; a brother, Edwin Kulbeck of Havre; eight grandchildren.
