Don was born July 7, 1922 in Provo, Utah to Alonzo and Mary Ann. Married Genevieve Caldwell on January 16, 1944.
He served in the United States Navy (World War II) for six years. Worked thirty-five years for Safeway and after retiring was a crossing guard for the Salt Lake County Sheriff.
Throughout the years, he enjoyed going to the University of Utah Football game and tailgating with family. He was an avid Jazz Fan and never missed a game on TV. He square danced with his wife, Genevieve, for over thirty years in which they traveled to Canada, Mexico and many places within the U.S. He also enjoyed taking vacations with his families.
He is survived by his son, Dennis (Ardith) Leavitt, Sandy, UT, daughter, Marsha (John) Enochs, Vaughn, MT; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Sheets, Jerry Roll; and brother, Lonnie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alonzo and Mary Ann; wife, Genevieve; brothers, Jesse James and Harold; sisters, Ada Bridge, Verda Gordon, Mary Brown, Wanda Bollschweiler, Reva Yarbrough; and great-grandsons, Bryson Zeltner and Robert Enochs. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 18, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Murraydale Ward Chapel, 6300 South 300 East. Family and friends may call on Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street (100 East), and Monday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the Church prior to the services.
Interment: Murray City Cemetery.
