Leonard Henry Buter, son of Henry and Elsie (Weber) Buter, was born September , 1913 west of Dunlap in Crawford County. He died December 12, 1977 at the age of 64.
He was a baptized and confirmed member of St. John Lutheran Church in Dunlap.
He attended schools in the Dunlap and Shenandoah areas.
July 15, 1935 he was united in married to Alice May Wadsworth. To this union five children were born.
Leonard spent most of his life in the Dunlap and Logan community where he engaged in farming and working for the telephone company---Boyer Valley Telephone Co., Central Iowa Telephone Co., and General Telephone Company of the Midwest. In 1970 he retired to their farm northwest of Dunlap.
He is survived by his wife, Alice, and their children, Mrs. Clyde (Beverly) Robinson of Merrill, Ia., Larry of Hartley, Ia., Janet, Susan and Randy of Dunlap; seven grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Byron (Ella Jane) Chambers; as well as many other relatives and friends.
His parents, one brother, Glenn and one sister, Delpha, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, 1977 with Pastor Robert L. Nelson officiating. Pallbearers were William A. Wadsworth, Steve Wadsworth, Fidell Wadsworth Jr., Dennis Nurse, Leonard Gosch and John Weber.
Interment was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
