Birth: in Kirksville, Adair county, Missouri, 3rd of father's known six, 2nd of mother's known five children.

Parents removed from Kirksville, Adair county, Missouri to Carthage, Jasper county, Missouri in 1874, father with others as one of the prominent members of the banking firm to conduct the Jasper County bank on the west side of the square in Carthage with the likes of attorney "Lon" Cunningham.

Census: 1880, age 14 Carthage, Jasper county, Missouri with parents & four siblings, father a banker.

From Mornin' Mail, 1899, to wit: G.A. Rose has his fine new residence on South Main street so far along that the carpenters are now engaged on the finishing work. As Mr. Rose has to move from the house he now occupies by December 15 he is greatly in hopes that he can have the upstairs of the new house sufficiently completed by that time to move into the upper rooms.

Census: 1900, age 32 Carthage, Jasper county, Missouri with hubby & two sons at 1320 south Main street, (house later which widow Lizzie Halzelgrave lived, next owned by George B Wood who may (?) have built it, then after his first born daughter Laura's demise was bought by the Rodenberg's converted to the Linden Apartments, with a swim pool added.)

Census: 1910, age 42 South Emmett, Canyon county, Idaho, with hubby & three children, on Box Springs road.

Census: 1920, age 51 Carthage, Jasper county, Missouri with hubby & daughter at 826, now 828 Clinton street.

Census: 1930, age 61 Carthage, Jasper county, Missouri widowed at 828 Clinton street with two roomers, one Robert Hammond, George Busboom's pilot, killed May 1930 in Tulsa, Oklahoma when their plane crashed.

Census: 1940, age 72 Carthage, Jasper county, Missouri with a lodger at 109 east Tenth street.

Death: at an Aurora Hospital in Lawrence county, Missouri having resided at the Methodist Home in Marionville, Missouri where at age 86, she accidentally fell down stairs and hit the right side of her head, causing a cerebral thrombosis and her death. SEPTEMBER 18, 1953

Carthage, MO. Sept 17. - Mrs. G. A. Rose, 86 year old former Carthage resident, died at 1 o'clock this afternoon in the Aurora hospital, where she had been a patient eight days.

Mrs. Rose, who for several months had been living at the Methodist Home in Marionville, suffered a head injury in a fall following a cerebral hemorrhage and never regained consciousness.

Born August 7, 1867 in Kirksville, she was the daughter of M. L. Reid, who came to Carthage in 1874 to organize the Jasper County Bank.

After completing her high school studies here she enrolled as a music major at Lindenwood College in St. Charles. She was married two years later to G. A. Rose of Carthage, now deceased.

Her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Bathurst of Evanston, Illinois, arrived Saturday in Aurora.
Other survivors are three grandsons;

Ensign Robert Bathurst of Washington, D.C. and
William Bathurst of Amherst, Massachusetts
