PNEUMONIA FATAL TO FORMER CARTHAGE BOY

Son of Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Rose Passes Away at Philipsburg, Montana After Brief Illness

Eugene Rose, died at 6 o'clock Sunday night at the hospital in Philipsburg, Montana. The message telling of his death was received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Rose, last evening. Death was due to pneumonia.

A message was received by Mr. Rose Sunday stating that his son was critcally sick, suffering from pneumonia. An item telling of the young man's condition was published in yesterday evening's PRESS. The message of his death would have reached Carthage sooner but Philipsburg does not have a Sunday telegraph service and the message could not be filed until yesterday morning. It was all day getting to Carthage.

Eugene S. Rose apparently had been sick for only a few days. A recent letter received by his parents was to the effect that he was in usual health. The first acknowledged of his sickness was received int he telegram telling of his condition Sunday. A brother, Heber Rose, who lives in Boise, Idaho, started Sunday night for Phillipsburg to be with his brother, but would not reach there until 1 o'clock this afternoon. He is expected to start for Carthage with the body tonight or tomorrow. He will not arrive until the end of the week.

Eugene Rose was born September 7, 1893 in Carthage and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Rose of Clinton Street. He attended school in Carthage and was well known here. When he was fifteen years old he moved with his parents to a ranch near Boise, Idaho. He completed his schooling at Boise. For several years he has been connected with one of the big copper mining companies at Philipsburg, Montana, being employed in the mechanical department of the company. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Besides the parents, one brother Heber Rose, of Boise, and one sister, Docia Rose of this city survive.
Mrs. R. H. Rose is his paternal grandmother.
