David L. Bennett, for the greater part of his 81 years a resident of Ash Grove township, died Tuesday morning, Dec. 13 at his home in Mattoon from a stroke of paralysis received five days before. He moved to Mattoon from Sexton seven or eight years ago. Mr. Bennett was born June 14, 1851, and on April 26, 1914, married Mrs. Angeline Bennett, the widow his brother. She survived him. He also leaves two half-sisters, Mrs. Mary A. Forbes and Mrs. Lydia Sexton, both of Mattoon; two stepsons, Ray Bennett and Howard Bennett of Shelby county; and a sister, Mrs. G. J. Curry, aged 91 years, living in Shelbyville. Funeral and burial services were held at Ash Grove church Wednesday afternoon. Windsor Gazette - 16 Dec 1932
