Pearl Simpson Whiteside, 86, a former resident of McDonald, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2004, in a local hospital.

She was the daughter of the late Lee and Minnie Blackwell, and was preceded in death by her first husband, Burl Simpson, and second husband, Clyde Whiteside.

She was a member of Eastside Church of Christ.

She was an excellent cook, who also loved sewing and quilting.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law: Millie Finnell of Otto, N.C., and Judie and Leonard Morton of Ormond Beach, Fla.; two sisters: Elizabeth Pippenger of Cleveland, and Ruby Boyd of Riceville; four grandchildren: Chris Matthews, Mark Randle, Kent Randle and Blake Randle; three great-grandchildren: Hannah Matthews, Bethany Matthews and Bryiana Randle; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, June 4, 2004, in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial provider, with Minister Jeff Archey officiating.

Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with a Dignity Memorial dove release being conducted at the cemetery.

Chris Matthews, Mark Randle, Kent Randle, Daniel Dalton, Franklin Kyle and Gary Jones will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.
