HOBART, IN
Edward A. Blackwell, age 77 of Hobart passed away Friday, January 24, 2009.
Edward was born on May 1, 1931 in Calhoun, TN.
He served his country in the U.S. Army. Edward retired from General Mills where he had worked as a Forklift Operator. He was a longtime member of the New Chicago Baptist Church. Edward enjoyed vegetable gardening and woodworking.
Edward is survived by three daughters: Brenda (Frank) Caporale of Hobart, IN, Faye (Edward) Fancher of Hammond, IN, Theresa (late John) Tharp of Lake Station, IN; one sister, Ruby Boyd; eight grandchildren: Kristina and Frank (Nadia) Caporale, Michelle Long, Steven Gratt, Holly and April Motsinger, Britney and Katie Tharp; one great-grandchild, Morgan Long.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leeotis and Kate Blackwell; his wife, Barbara Blackwell; and one daughter, Cynethia Motsinger.
Funeral services are Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Rev. Bill Barrow officiating.
Burial will follow at Blake Cemetery, Portage.
Visitation is Tuesday, January, 27, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with additional Visitation on Wednesday just prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel. Call (219) 942-2109
