CATHERINE "KITTY" CLIFTON passed away in Lethbridge on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at age 86, following a lengthy illness.
Kitty was born in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, England on May 8, 1924 to parents Matthew and Mary Anne Gallon. She was raised and educated in Newcastle with her brothers, Chris, Vaughn and Matthew, and sisters, Dolly, Alice, and Margaret.
During the Second World War, Kitty met and married Bert Clifton of Magrath, Alberta, a young Canadian soldier serving with the Calgary Tank Regiment. The couple had one daughter, Dorothy (Bob Etter) and four sons: Ray (Ruby), Robert (Valerie), Allen, and Chris (Carol). Bert and Kitty made their home in Magrath and worked together for several years at the Alberta Canning Company and Tanco Windows.
In later years, Kitty enjoyed reading, shopping, coffee sessions with her friends and spending time with her family which had grown to include numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Kitty was predeceased by her husband Bert Clifton, parents Matthew and Mary Anne Gallon, her brother Vaughn Gallon, her sister Dolly Hagen, son Ray Clifton and grandchildren Douglas, Tracy and Bert Clifton.
A Private Graveside Service will be held on Monday, September 27, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the MAGRATH CEMETERY, Magrath, Alberta.
The family gratefully declines flowers and memorial tributes.
