Richard "Bill" Banks, 63, of R. 1, Box 111, Springville, died at 8:02 a.m. Thursday at Bloomington Hospital. Born in Oolitic, he was the son of Frank W. and Lorene (Greer) Banks. He married Charlene Phillips on January 15, 1966, and she survives. He was retired and a member of Oak Grove Pentecostal Church.
Surviving with the wife are four sons; Gerald Banks of Woodland, Texas; Terry Banks of Bloomington; Kevin Jones of Orleans and Lavern Jones of Bedford; one daughter, Melissa Goodman of Harrodsburg; six brothers, Mack Banks of Springville, Roger "Tiny" Banks of Washington, James Banks, Franklin "Hank" Banks, John Banks, and Chester Dale Banks, all of Bedford; one sister, Mrs. Wanda Moore of Harrodsburg; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Day & Carter Mortuary, Bedford, with Revs. Wendell Phillips and Larry Hawkins and Claude Cobb officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. until time of services Sunday at the funeral home.
