She was the daughter of Campbell County "C.C." Reed (1820-1886) and Martha Ann "Patsy" Chitwood (1820-1901). Both of Rebecca's parents were born in Campbell Co., TN and both died in Scott Co., TN.
Rebecca married James G. Chitwood (1840-1916) on Feb. 16, 1865 in Scott Co., TN. He was the son of Joel Chitwood (1812-1884) and Elizabeth Trammell
Rebecca and James were married for 41 years and had six children Their children were Sarah A. Chitwood (1866-1913), Elvira Chitwood (1872-1938), Emily Chitwood (1875-1950), Lindsay L. Chitwood (1877-1950), Coffee Maynard "C.M." Chitwood (1879-1947) and James A. Chitwood (1881-1908).
Rebecca died on March 13, 1906 in Scott Co., TN at the age of 62. She was buried in the Trammell-Chitwood Cemetery in Winfield, Scott Co., TN.
Rebecca's husband James died in 1916 and was buried next to his wife Rebecca.
