Campbell County Reed was born on April 30, 1820 in Campbell Co., Tennessee. He was the son of Isaac Morris Reed (1790-1854) and Phariba Rachel Hatfield (1795-1840).

Campbell's father Isaac was born in Greenville, South Carolina. Isaac's parents, Campbell's paternal grandparents, were John Reed (1760-1938) and Nancy Morris (1760-1856).

Campbell's mother Phariba was born in Russell Co., Virginia. She was the daughter of Joseph Hatfield (1740-1832) and Rachel Smith (1754-1858). Both were born in Virginia and both died in Tennessee.

On Jan. 24, 1840 Campbell married Martha "Patsy" Chitwood. They were married for 46 years and had nine known children.

Campbell served as a Justice of the Peace for Scott Co, TN in the 1850's and Court Clerk of Scott Co, TN in the 1860's. During the Civil War he fought with the Union as a private in the Tennessee 2nd Infantry Regiment, Co. G.

Campbell died on July 11, 1886 in Scott Co., Tennessee. He was 66 years of age.
