Services for Robert Claxton Woodard, 70, of Rentz, were held at 11 a.m. today at the chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. The Rev. Jack Sapp and the Rev. Bob Ballard officiated and burial was in the Rentz Cemetery with Masonic rites performed at the graveside by members of Thaggard Lodge.
A lifelong resident of Laurens County, Mr. Woodard was a retired employee of J.P. Stevens Co. Inc. and was a member of Rentz Baptist Church and Thaggard Lodge F. & A.M. His parents were the late Samuel Frank Woodard and the late Mamie Martin Woodard of Laurens County. Mr. Woodard died Saturday at a local hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Adon Hobbs Woodard of Rentz; three sons, Robert F. Woodard of Kennesaw and George Woodard and Ronnie Woodard, both of Rentz; four daughters, Joyce Hogan, Barbra Grinstead and Glenda Coleman, all of Rentz, and Janice King of Virginia Beach, Va.; four brothers, D. O. Woodard of Rentz, M. F. Woodard of Macon, Ezra Woodard of Milledgeville and D. A. Woodard of Dublin; four sisters, Malina Evans of Glenwood, Lillian Robinson of Eastman and Lucy McAfee and Maxine Kennedy, both of Dublin; and 19 grandchildren.
