Cecilia Schmidt, 79, died Monday, Feb. 13, at Hays Medical Center, St. Anthony Campus, Hays. She was born Oct. 10, 1915 at Victoria, the daughter of Frank and Pauline Braun Dreiling.
She was a Hays resident. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Altar Society Christian Mothers, both of Hays.
On Sept. 17, 1940 she married Vincent P. Schmidt at Victoria. He survives.
Other survivors include a son, David of Hays; four daughters, Janice M. Munker of Cheyenne, Wyo., Ethel P. Westphal of Wichita, Mary F. Gerstberger of Leoti, Erma C. of Shawnee; a brother, Dan F. Dreiling of Victoria; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
An Altar Society Christian Mothers rosary was at 4 p.m. and a parish vigil was at 7:30 p.m. today at Hays Memorial Chapel, Hays. Her funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays, with Father Carl Kramer presiding. Friends may call until 9 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to service time Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.
