Samuel H. KIRK, 91, 4970 W. Fulton County Road 550 South, Kewanna, died at 5:35
a.m. Monday at Woodlawn Hospital.
Born in Fulton County to Leonard and Emma WARFIELD KIRK, he married Bessie E.
GAULT Feb. 14, 1947, in Indianapolis. She died Dec. 30, 1998.
Mr. Kirk retired from Pennsylvania and C&O railroads. He worked at Caston Educational
Center and was a newspaper carrier for The Rochester Sentinel and Logansport Pharos Tribune.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater. He participated in the
movie "Best Man in Grass Creek." He was a member of Fletchers Lake United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Lucy SEE and husband Bill, Fulton, Connie STUBER
and husband Bill, Portland, Ore.; three sons, Tony [KIRK], Indianapolis, Richard [KIRK], Dade
City, Fla., Charlie [KIRK] and wife Debbie, Rochester; eight grandchildren, Lori KINGERY,
Dulcie STUBER, Kristi DENTON, Katy PHILLIPS, Ryan BARNETT, Kyla KIRK, Nicky KIRK
and Shelley SCHILLING; five great-grandchildren, Mitchell KERR, Holly and Jacob KINGERY,
Jaycee DENTON and Cearra CASTLEMAN; two sisters, Blanche PARKINS, Logansport, and
Goldie SMITH, Kewanna.
Services are at noon Thursday at Fletchers Lake United Methodist Church with Rev.
David SOMMERS officiating. Burial will be at Fletchers Lake Cemetery, where graveside rites
will be conducted by the Rochester American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Friends may
call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Fulton, and one hour prior to
services at the church. Memorials may be made to First Responders of the Grass Creek Fire
Department or the Disabled American Veterans.
