Riley Grant Baldwin, 96, Galesburg, Kansas, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010 at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute, Kansas.
Riley was born in rural Galesburg, Kansas on Sept. 6, 1914, the son of Harry and Zella (Fought) Baldwin.
He attended Galesburg schools.
He served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
He was united in marriage to Virtress Dixon Jordan on Nov. 20, 1952 at Chanute, Kansas. She preceded him in death on Jan. 24, 1998.
He was a lifetime farmer.
He was a member of the Galesburg Christian Church.
Survivors include a step-daughter, Joyce (Jordan) McKinsey; two stepsons, Jerry Jordan and John Jordan, both of Chanute, KS; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Ralph Baldwin, of Erie, KS; and three sisters, Anna
Schoenhofer, of St. Paul, KS, Ada Lee Landrau, of California, and Alma Oberly, of Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Virtress; a step-daughter, Jewell Johnson; a stepson, Joe Jordan; and five siblings, Ruth Arseneault, of Maine, Ruby Wilcox, of St. Paul, KS, Opal St. Clair, of Maryland, Roy Baldwin, of Chanute, KS, and Harvey Baldwin, of Texas.
Funeral service will be Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010 at the Galesburg Christian Church. Burial will follow in Harrison Cemetery, west of Thayer, KS.
Memorials in his name may be made to Galesburg Christian Church and may be left with the funeral home.
Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel in Chanute, KS is in charge of arrangements.
