William B SKELLINGER was the third son born to Furman and Mary McCullough Schellinger of Hopewell, Cumberland Co., New Jersey. William married Martha Washington Scudder, born 18 October 1836, daughter of Eli and Martha Dunham Scudder, on 1 Nov 1855 in Bridgeton, Cumberland Co., New Jersey and they had children: Wilbert, Mattie, Walter, Dora and Sarah. On 30 April 1878, Martha died at age 42 years. On 27 April 1880, William married Eliza Jane Sheppard Moore, daughter of Henry and Eliza B Kelsey Sheppard, in Cumberland Co., New Jersey. This was the second marriage for Eliza Jane; her first husband, Levi K Moore, died some time after 1872. William and Eliza Jane had no children but lived happily together in Lower Alloways Creek, until William's death on 24 Dec 1912. Eliza Jane died in the year 1918 and is buried in the Canton Baptist Church cemetery Salem, New Jersey, alongside her daughter, Maria R S Moore (1872-1890),
by her first marriage, William and Martha are buried in the same grave.
