Lois Funkhouser Yager, 92, of Sunnyside Presbyterian Retirement Community in Harrisonburg, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.

Mrs. Yager was born April 16, 1911, in Dayton, and was a daughter of the late Charles Andrew and Maude Irene Snapp Funkhouser.

She was a teacher at Keezletown Elementary and Shady Hill in Cambridge, Mass. She had also been employed at the Service Press.

Mrs. Yager was the oldest living charter member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Harrisonburg, where she was a trustee and served as superintendent of the church school.

On July 16, 1940, she married Robert William Yager, who preceded her in death May 25, 1988.

She is survived by a son, Robert W. Yager Jr. of Mount Crawford; a daughter, Betsy Y. Kjerland of Vienna; a brother, Richard J. Funkhouser of Sunnyside Retirement Community; and a sister, Catherine F. Liles of Harrisonburg.

The Rev. Ann Held will conduct a memorial service 6:30 p.m. Friday at Trinity Presbyterian Church. A private burial will be at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.

Memorial donations may be made to the Harrisonburg Fire Department, Co. 1, 80 Maryland Ave., Harrisonburg, Va. 22801.
