Death has again visited our midst and taken away one of our good citizens.

Wednesday morning friends were saddened by the report that Adam Muench was dead. The cause of his death was an attack of pneumonia fever, from which he has been suffering only since Friday, owning to his age he was not able to meet the attack and passed away Tuesday at 9:15 p.m. surrounded by relatives and friends. his age was 65 years, 11 months and 30 days.

Mr. Muench has spent the past five years here with his nephew Ed. Hopp, and his niece Mrs. Anna Fruend, whre he made his home. He was a devout church member and was well known in the community and respected and honored by all, especially by members of the G. A. R. The remains were taken to Du Quoin at 10:30 where the funeral services were held at 11 o'clock a the Catholic church. Reverend Father Kloche performed the services, interment at Catholic cemetery.

Mr. Muench leaves to mourn his loss, one brother who lives in Belleville, two sisters in East St. Louis and one in Winchester, Ill. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hopp and Mrs. Anna Fruend accompany the remains to Du Quoin.

His comrades, those who served with him in the church, neighbors and friends unite in sincere sympathy with the bereaved relatives.

Adam Muench - Word reached here, Thursday, of the death of Adam Muench, a former resident of this city, at Pinckneyville. Peter Muench, a brother, left here Wednesday to go to the bedside of Muench, but reached there too late. Mr. Muench passed away during the night before the brother arrived in Pinkneyville. Many of the older residents will recall the deceased. He was at one time connected with the brewery business of this city in the earlier days. The funeral took place in Pinckneyville, Friday.
