John Ferguson made each of his 7 daughter's husbands promise to bury their wife's in the Ferguson Cemetery.
Consequently 6 of the 7 daughters are buried in a straight line beside their parents in the Ferguson Cemetery, Daughter Eliza Ann Ferguson Collins is buried beside her husband two rows back from her sisters.
Sister Isabell Ferguson left it in her will that monuments be placed over the graves of her sisters, Cathrine Phillips, Eliza Collins, Flora Collins, Susan Burton and Christian Connell. (I think that they either did not have headstones or they had simple cement headstones like their parents.) She did not leave any instructions for a head stone for her sister Mary Jane Phillips. It could be Mary Jane could afford a nice stone and did not need help from her sister.
All the sisters headstones all are alike with a "Ships Anchor" as the emblem at the top of the head stone, except for Mary Jane Ferguson Phillips, headstone.
It is an amazing site to see the six headstone in a row with a "Ships Anchor" as the emblem at the top of each headstone. It is worth the drive to the Ferguson Cemetery just to see the graves of Ferguson Sisters, if you are in the area.
There is a piece of an old cement headstone still there for Christian Alice Ferguson Connell, notice that her name is spelled different on the original headstone, it is spelled Christan instead of Christian. I was told she did this because of the confusing of her name with her daughter, Christon Connell King, and her granddaughter, Christan King Connell.
Christian Alice Ferguson Connell was my 2nd Great-Grand Mother. I hope you enjoy researching and exploring the Roots of the Ferguson Sisters as much as I have. Sincerely Denise Warnock 2nd Great-Grand Daughter of Christian Alice Ferguson Connell.
Sources: Special Thanks goes to Bob Burton (he sent me a copy of Sister Isabell Ferguson Will that had some of the above information in it) and my Uncle George King (for helping me get started on my research of the Ferguson Sisters)
