Mother: Margaret Marie Ives Osborn
Father: Nathan Birdsey Osborn
Sister: Janie Kathryn Osorn (Grill)
Brother: Nathan Birdsey Osborn, Jr.
Spouse: Henry Clay Franklin, married Sep 18, 1933 at Norfolk, Virginia
Madeline was born on a steamship just as it entered the Norfolk, Va. harbor. (They were returning home from a visit to Rhode Island.) Her middle name, Hamilton, was the name of the steamship and her first name was the name of the captain's daughter. Madeline was the second of three children, and my mother, her sister, says she was always restless, fearless and vivacious. She died just before I was born and Mama gave me her name (my middle name). I don't know anything about her husband or her life after she married and moved away. I only know she died childless in California, and my mother never stopped missing her.

Thank you, Allison, for making this memorial and then transferring it to me.
