Tom B. Atherton, 82, a retired FAA administrator, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010. Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday at St. Luke United Methodist Church. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Tom was born May 14, 1928, and was a proud native of Fort Worth. He was a graduate of Diamond Hill High School and attended TCU on a football scholarship. He was a devoted member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, where he was active in the choir and the Emmanuel Class. Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Kathryn. Survivors: Son, Jack Atherton; daughter, Julia Atherton; two grandchildren; brother, Sam Atherton; and numerous other family members and countless friends.
