SHORT SKETCH OF THE LIFE OF SIMEON THOMPSON
In the passing of Simeon Thompson, this vicinity loses another splendid citizen, a man whose citizenship was of that frugal, substantial quality, coupled with correct living, and possessed with a desire to see others make successes in life--attributes upon which communities thrive and prosper.
Being of a charitable and kindly disposition, he acquired the lasting friendship of his neighbors and acquaintances and passed this life on June 4th, leaving behind a host of friends who join with the deceased's relatives in mourning his departure.
Simeon Thompson spent his entire life in this vicinity, being born near Green Hill, Warren County, March 28, 1853, he more than living out the allotted time of three score and ten.
He was united in marriage to Unice Harmon on January 9, 1873. To this union were born six children all of whom survive, together with the widow, ten grand children and six great-grandchildren. The children are as follows: Mrs. Bert Warrick, Toledo, OH; Earl Thompson and Mrs. Mae Props, of Attica, Indiana; Bert and William Thompson, of Green Hill; Mrs. Carrie Misner, of Chicago. Surviving brothers and sisters: Mrs. John James, of Attica; Mrs. Belle Bader, of Springfield, Ohio; Mrs. Abbie McAdams of Harper, Kansas; Henry Thompson, of Williamsport and Edward Thompson of Michigan.
Up to three years ago, Simeon Thompson lived on the farm near Green Hill, at that time he moved to Attica, where he resided until June 4th, when he was called by the Angel of Death.
The remains were buried in the Davis Cemetery, near Green Hill, on Saturday afternoon, June 6th.
