Nellie E. (Adams) Constance 1918 ~ 2009

Nellie E. Constance beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, May 5th, 2009 in Salt Lake City, Utah at the age of 91. Many whose lives were touched through her writing and teaching of the Bible will miss her.

She was born on January 22, 1918 in New Castle, Pennsylvania to Ambrose and Myrtle Adams. She graduated from Nyack College, Nyack, New York in 1939. She married Thomas M. Constance on August 4, 1940 in New Castle, PA. Nellie was a lifetime member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church. She served as a minister's wife for 25 years. Along with her husband, opened Intermountain Bookstore of which they were the owners/managers until 1996. The couple also founded and directed Explorer's Bible Study with headquarters in Dickson, TN. She was a teacher and author of ten Bible Study courses.

Surviving Nellie is her husband Thomas of 68 years, her children: Connie (Jeffrey) Silliman, Salt Lake City, Utah; Patricia (Bruce) Russell, Park City, Utah; John (Judy) Constance, Eugene, Oregon; Thomas (Wynona) Constance, Jr. Dickson, TN. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and nine great-grand-children. Sisters: Sue Patton, Doris Rigby, Olive Heminger, and Dolly Bovard; Brother: Jack Adams and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents, three brothers and five sisters.

Funeral Service will be Monday, May 11th, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Wasatch Presbyterian Church located at 1626 South 1700 East, SLC. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, SLC. A memorial fund has been established for Mrs. Constance at Explorer's Bible Study; P.O. Box 425, Dickson, TN 37056. The family would like to thank CareSource and Sunrise at Holladay for their exceptional care. Arrangements entrusted to Evans and Early Mortuary, SLC.
