ELEANOR "CLAISEN" BRONAUGH was born on 25 June 1809 in Lincoln County, Kentucky and was the sixth known child of TALIAFERRO BRONAUGH and his first spouse ELIZABETH JANE "JENNIE" (GILMOUR) BRONAUGH. She was most likely named after her maternal grandmother ELEANOR, the wife of her grandfather JAMES GILMOUR, and whose maiden name we believe was CALLISON. According the HENRY PERRIN in the HISTORY OF CHRISTIAN COUNTY, KENTUCKY published in 1884, the CALLISON's along with the TALIAFERRO BRONAUGH and JAMES GILMOUR were a founding family of the Sinking Spring Presbyterian Church, the first Presbyterian Church in the south part of Christian County, Kentucky

ELEANOR CLAISEN BRONAUGH spent her early years with her family in Lincoln County, Kentucky where the family lived on the "Hanging Fork of the Dix River" near present day Stanford. In about 1815 both the BRONAUGH and GILMOUR families sold their land in Lincoln County, Kentucky and moved to Christian County, Kentucky and settled in adjacent homes on the same plantation.

After 1815, ELEANOR CLAISEN BRONAUGH lived the remainder of her youth in Christian County, Kentucky and on 27 March 1828, married WILLIAM N. ANDERSON there. They established their home on the large plantation owned by her father TALIAFERRO BRONAUGH and they became the parents of eight children that we can document, six of which were born in Kentucky and two in Missouri.
