Old Resident of County Dies
Gerhard Sieberg, 88, Passes Away Yesterday at Hospital Here

Gerhard, Sieberg, 88, one of the oldest residents of Blue Earth county, died at a local hospital yesterday following a short illness.

Born in Coblenz, Germany, on February 26, 1851, Mr. Sieberg came to Minnesota with his parents at the age of 16 and settled on a farm in what is now Mankato township.

In 1878, he married Mary Trampert who preceded him in death in 1917.

Following his marriage, Mr. Sieberg cleared the 150-acr farm where he lived until about four years ago.

He is survived by three sons, Math and George of Manakto township and Peter of Mankato; two sisters, Mrs. Gertie Gitter of Mankato and Mrs. Henry Kelsy of Portland, Ore; two brothers, Frank of Fairbault and Stephen of Mankato; and four grandchildren.

The body will be at the Landkamer funeral home until Sunday noon when it will be taken to the home of his son Math where Mr. Sieberg spent the last years of his life.

The funeral will be from the home at 8:15 o'clock Tuesday morning and at 9:o'clock from SS Peter & Paul's church. Burial will be at the family plot in Calvary cemetery.

One of the older members of the SS Peter and Paul's Men's Benevolent society and a member of the Men's Sodality of the church. Mr. Sieberg was active in these organizations up to the time of his death.
