Eliza Jane was born to Nelson T. And Mary Emma Laney Barker. She married Leotis Nicely on 19 January 1917. They had the following children: Nettie (1920-2026), Garnet Aretta (1923-1993), Claudia Merlin (1926-2005), Gertrude May "Gertie" (1928-2010), Thelma Iris (1931-2007), Mary Virginia (1933-), and Raymond Nicely(1936-2018). Leotis died one month before Raymond was born.∼Grandma Eliza married Leotis when they were both 17. They had 6 girls and one boy. I remember Grandma Eliza sitting in her bed, scarf on her head, when we would visit at her daughter Nettie's house.
