Rebecca Mary Ann Stone was born in 1845 in Hardin County, TN, to Meredith and Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" (Garrett) Stone. She received her names from her two grandmothers who were sisters, Rebecca (Roberts) Stone and Mary Ann (Roberts) Garrett. She made the relocation to Arkansas with the Stone family in the mid-1850's. Rebecca, her father, Meredith and brother, John lWilliam each died of the fever in 1859. The three became the first to be interred in Union Hill Cemetery near El Paso in White County.
