Oroville Daily Register, December 18, 1906. Death Summons Another Pioneer. Mr. Daniel Abbey, of Honcut, passes away after severe illness lasting over several months. Daniel Abbey, one of the best known residents of Honcut and for years a resident of that town, died yesterday afternoon at his home in that place. The end came only after a painful illness lasting for several months.

Mr. Abbey was 76 years of age, and came here in the '50's, when the gold excitement was high. He mined for some time, but later settled near Central House, where he had lived since. Until recent years he was acquainted practically with everyone in this end of the county, and was as universally respected as he was acquainted.

Besides his widow, Mr. Abbey leave a family of eight children, all grown, to mourn his loss. They are Edward W., R. Harvey, John H., and Samuel D. Abbey, Mrs. J.E. Burdick of Wheatland, Mrs. A.L. Hartsock, Miss Elsie Abbey and Miss Marguerite Abbey.

Announcement will be made later with regard to funeral arrangements.

Mr. Abbey came to Butte county in 18752, and had resided here continuously ever since that time. He was married in Rose City, now known as Palermo, to Miss Mary Dweyer.

The funeral will be held at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning from the family home, the interment being in Oroville.
