He was the youngest and the last of ten sons of the late Carpenter Winslow.He died at his home in Gaskill Township,near the Village of Winslow.

He was married 16 February 1832 to Christina Long,who was a daughter of Joseph Long.
He was the brother of the late Judge James Winslow.

He was the father of 11 children,8 whom were still living at the time of their father's passing,namely:
The Hon. Reuben C. Winslow;
Mrs. J.B.[Caroline B.] Wilson;
Mrs. J.P.[Elizabeth] Murray, all of Punxsutawney;
Augustus G. Winslow;
Joseph C. Winslow;
Minerva C. Winslow;
Sarah Winslow;
Mary E. Winslow;
and Flora Winslow,who died in 1882;
one son & one daughter,Mariah,who died in infancy.

Joseph Wood Winslow, the venerable father of Hon R. C. Winslow, Mrs J. B. Wilson and Mrs. J. P. Murray of this place died at his home at Winslow on Tuesday night May 8, 1894 in the 90th year of his age.
Mr. Winslow was born in Wiscasset Maine Dec 10, 1804. He was married February 16, 1832 to Christiana Long who survives him. He was the youngest and last of a family of ten sons of Carpenter Winslow who died in 1827 and who is buried in the old cemetery at this place. He was a brother of the late Judge James Winslow of Clayville who died about a year ago age 95 years. He is the father of eleven children, eight of whom are still living.
Mr Winslow was one of the early settlers of southern Jefferson County.
