Martha A. nee Hughes Winslow Lang

The daughter of Samuel G. Hughes ;she was twice married,1st in 1877 to J. Carlton Winslow who passed away in 1881. They were the parents of one son, Eugene Winslow.

She was married later in 1897 to Frank C. Lang, they had no children.

Martha Ann married John Carleton Winslow. He died 1881. Martha remarried to Frank C Lang.

Mrs. Martha Lang, wife of Frank C. Lang, cashier of the Punxsutawney National Bank, died at her home on Penn St., Saturday evening, June 11. The cause of her demise was a pressure on the brain. She had been sick but a few weeks and several days before her death she became unconscious. Funeral services were held at the residence Tuesday forenoon, conducted by Rev. C. W. Miner and assisted by Rev. C. A. Clark. The sad rites were attended by a large circle of sorrowing friends. Interment was made in Circle Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Lang was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Hughes, deceased. She was born May 11, 1859. She was twice married. Her first husband was [ sic- John Carlton ] Carlton Winslow, son of Hon. and Mrs. R. C. Winslow, who died Nov. 11, 1881. Her second marriage took place in April 1897. Besides her husband she leaves one son, Eugene Winslow. Her surviving sisters and brothers are, Mrs. Zilla Sterling, of the Dalles, Oregon; Mrs. Kanas Simpson, of Lincoln, Kan.; Dr. Lot Hughes, of Dennison, Ohio; Noah Huoghes and Meade Houghes of Portland, Oregon. Mrs. Jacob Zeitler of this place, is a half sister and William Hughes, Esq, of Lindsey is a half-brother.

The floral tributes in memory of the deceased were very fine and in profusion. Mrs. Lang was a member of the M. E. church for many years. and for a lone time was an active worker in the Epworth League. She possessed generous, christian spirit; a temperament of sunshine, a disposition unselfish, and a thoughtfulness and kindness for those who most needed it.
