GORDON JOHNSON
A member of a pioneer family, Gordon Johnson, 74, passed away
unexpectedly Sunday afternoon at 2:00 at the residence on Lyerly,
Georgia, Rt. 1, following a sudden illness. He was a retired farmer and
a member of the Baptist Church.
Funeral service was held Tuesday morning at 10:30 at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel, Revs. Jimmy Wilburn and Sanford Deberry officiating. Internment was in Hopewell Cemetery with Jordan Funeral Home directing.
Active pallbearers were grandsons: Gary Brown, Randall Clayton,
Michael, Danny, Jeff and Larry Johnson.
Johnson is survived by the wife Mrs. Bonnie Bell Johnson, three sons, Jack Johnson and Wallace Johnson, both of Lyerly, GA, Rt. 1, Ralph Johnson of Birmingham, one daughter Mrs. Bert Brown of Birmingham; one sister, Mrs. Josephine Shew of Gadsden; four brothers, E. H., W. T. and L.B. Johnson, all of Cedar Bluff and Marvin Johnson of Leesburg. 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren also survive.
A native of Cherokee County, he was the son of the late Russell and Alma Grogan Johnson.
