Mrs. Legg, nee Emma Colvin, was the wife of John Legg, an enterprising Skaneateles blacksmith who later made his fortune as a carriage manufacturer. A native of Cambridge, NY, she was the daughter of Benjamin and Mary (nee Sprague) Colvin. She died in Skaneateles at the age of 70, her survivors including her husband, their daughter Mrs. Juliet Legg Thayer, and 18-year-old granddaughter Mary Ann Thayer. Among those who predeceased her were two granddaughters who died in childhood.
