Obituary - "Beloved Mom and Nana"
Thelma (Barkdull) Thornley Sevy died on Monday, 01 December 2003 in St. George, Washington County, Utah.
She was born on 29 May 1907 in Farmington, Davis County, Utah, the daughter of the late Mary Ann (Meadows) Mills and Peter Samuel Barkdull.
Thelma married Delles Layton Thornley on 12 September 1923 in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple.
He preceded her in death on 07 April 1978.
An active member of the L.D.S. Church, Thelma served many callings in Church auxiliaries.
She married Dr. V. M. Sevy in Salt Lake City on 07 April 1984. They shared love and life together until "Dr. V" preceded her in death July 2, 1995.
Thelma, "Nana", was the proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. She dearly loved them all.
She always had time for her family and friends.
She loved people, and had a talent for making friends easily. She cherished her friendships, both the new and those that were lifelong.
Her parents and all of her birth family also preceded her in death, as well as an infant son, Darel Layton Thornley (29 August 1929) and her eldest grandson, David Edward Cooley (19 May 2003). Thelma is survived by her two daughters, Fae Donna (Edward J.) Cooley and Carol (J. Kimber) Hawkes, and her son, Paul D. Thornley (Beverly).
Services in honor of Thelma Thornley Sevy will be held in the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City on Saturday, 6 December 2003, at 12 Noon.
Viewings will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, 05 December 2003, at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, and from 10:45-11:45 a.m. the day of the service. Burial services will be at the Kaysville, Utah City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers family requests donation be made to Primary Children's Medical Center and the LDS Church Missionary Fund.
