Mary Lodene Abrahamson, 73, rural Blaisdell, died Tuesday, August 10, 2010 in a Stanley Nursing Home.

She was born February 10, 1937 to Joseph and Joette Jacobson in Ryder, ND. She was raised on the family farm and attended a country school. She graduated from Douglas High School in 1956. She then attended Minot State Teacher's College and obtained her Standard Teaching Certificate. She taught at a country school south of Berthold, as well as Plaza, Parshall, and Blaisdell schools. At a dance near Plaza, she met the love of her life, Roy Abrahamson. They were married August 30, 1959 at Shell Creek Lutheran Church. They made their home on their farm south of Blaisdell where they raised their four children, Kirk, Stacy, Harley and Kristi. They farmed and ranched for many years until Roy and his sons started Abrahamson Trucking. She was always eagerly awaiting Roy's return home from his daily trips.

Mary was a very dedicated member of Shell Creek Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and was involved with the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed making lefse and lumpa annually with Kickapoo Country for the North Dakota State Fair and the Norsk Hostfest. She also enjoyed her time spent with the Friendly Folks Homemaker's Group. In her spare time, Mary enjoyed baking, sewing, gardening, writing the weekly Kickapoo news for the local newspaper, and visiting with her many friends. She never missed the showers, weddings or events of family and friends. She also enjoyed attending school and sporting events of her children and grandchildren. She and Roy loved to go dancing every chance they could, wherever there was music playing. She lived for her family, friends, and her faith.

We are grateful to God that He blessed us with her for so many years, and she will be deeply missed.

Her loving family includes: husband of 50 years, Roy; sons, Kirk (Beth), Stacy (Patti), and Harley (Melanie) Abrahamson, all of Minot; and daughter, Kristi (Allen) Redding, of Donnybrook; grandchildren, Katie Abrahamson; Joshua, Jordan, Justin, and Hallie Abrahamson; Austin, Logan, and Dawson Redding; great-grandchild, Hunter Abrahamson; sister, Marvel (Jim) Bakken; Minot; brothers, Roger (Karen) Jacobson, Stanton, and David (Linda) Jacobson, Minot; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Joette; brother, Lane Jacobson, and infant brother, Edwin. Visitation is: Friday from 10 to 5 at Springan Funeral Home – Stanley Funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Shell Creek Lutheran Church – rural Blaisdell Burial: Shell Creek Cemetery
