Mary Ann Hunt was first married to Jacob Bratton and had two children; Rebecca and Ebenezer. She was then married to George W. Burt and had two additional children; Edward and George.

In 1856, Mary Ann was living in Clarke Co.,IA. In 1860 she was living in Warren Co., IA , from 1870 to 1900, Clarke Co. and 1900 to the time of her death Madison County IA. She died at her daughters home in Ohio Twp., Madison Co., IA.

-Mrs. Mary Ann Burt suffered a severe stroke of paralysis at the home of Jack Gracey near the North county line last week and has been helpless ever since. She is one of the oldest settlers of Washington township.

Mrs. Mary Ann Hunt died of paralysis at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jack Stacy near Truro Iowa on Sunday morning Jan 3, 1904. Mrs Burt's age was 74 years, 4 months and 17 days. She was born in Coshocton County Ohio and with her husband moved to Clarke county Iowa in 1885. Mrs. Burt leaves, a brother Mr. F. H. Hunt of Wisconsin to sisters, Mrs. Emerson of Afton and Mrs. B. Dietrict of Clarke county besides, two children Mr George Burt and Mrs. Stacy with whom she made her home. She had lived a faithful Christian for many years and was only waiting for the blessed Jesus to say come. The funeral services conducted by Rev. White were held at the home at 11 a. m. Monday. January 4th after which she was laid to rest beside her husband in the Fields Cemetery.
