John Hugo Arneson, 463 East Chicago street, Elgin, a former Charter Grove farmer, well known in this vicinity, died in the Illinois Research Educational hospital, Chicago, Saturday afternoon. Death followed a severe illness.

He was born in Waxio, Sweden, Sept. 29, 1888, coming to America when he was 18 years of age, and residing in Charter Grove community until Feb. 1, 1937, when, due to ill health, he removed to Elgin. The last seven years prior to his giving up farming was spent on the Haines farm.

He married Miss Anna Gustafson, formerly of Waxio, Sweden, in Aurora, in September, 1915.

Surviving him are his widow; four children, Roland of Sycamore, Evar, Alyce and Donald, at home; four brothers, Carl of Chicago, Ellis of DeKalb, Roger of Los Angeles, and Evar of Waxio; a sister, Mrs. Fritz Magnafon of Burlington, and a host of friends. The late Oscar Arneson of this city was a brother.

Mr. Arneson inherited the sterling virtues of his race, being known as a good neighbor, a loving husband and father, and an excellent citizen.

Funeral services will be held from Kebil's funeral parlors at 1:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, and from the Salem Lutheran church at 2 o'clock, the Rev. I. H. Rognlie of Elgin officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery.
