Hope (Place) Brownell, age 89, previously of Bridgewater, died peacefully at home in Southbury on August 23, 2010. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Fenner E. Brownell; two daughters, Deborah and Sarah; son, Fenner and daughter-in-law, Susan; four grandchildren, Caleb, Lauren, Hollis, and Tyler; her sister, Barbara Driscoll; and several nieces and nephews. Hope was born June 17, 1921 in Cranston, R.I., the daughter of Charles F. and Edith Place. She was actively involved in town and community activities while raising her family in Bridgewater. Hope will be remembered for her positive outlook, her determination, patience, kindness, and devotion to those who were close to her. A graveside service for family and friends will be held at Bridgewater South Cemetery on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 11am.
